Want to buy a realistic-looking black airsoft gun (RIF) from onlyBBguns? Because these guns look so real, UK law (the VCRA Act) requires you to have a valid reason, called a "defence," to own one. Essentially, you need to prove you're buying it for airsoft skirmishing (the sport itself), not for any other purpose.

Here's how you can demonstrate your defence to onlyBBguns and buy a black airsoft gun:

  1. Show proof of skirmishing: Gather evidence like photos and videos from airsoft games you've participated in. These should clearly show you actively involved in skirmishing, demonstrating your intent to use the gun for the sport.
  2. Become a registered skirmisher: The easiest way to prove your defence is by joining a recognized airsoft association and getting a membership card. The most common one in the UK is UKARA. This registration confirms you're a legitimate airsoft player.

Don't have either of those? No problem! You can still buy the airsoft gun. onlyBBguns can paint it in a two-tone colour scheme. This means part of the gun will be sprayed a bright, non-realistic colour. This makes the gun a "non-realistic imitation firearm" and avoids the restrictions of the VCRA Act. Anyone over 18 can legally buy a two-tone airsoft gun.

The S&T M1903A3 Bolt-Action Rifle

The M1903 Springfield was renowned for its accuracy and reliability, serving as the primary U.S. service rifle before the adoption of the M1 Garand and continuing as a specialized sniper platform for decades. The S&T M1903A3 (Faux Wood) brings this iconic piece of history to the airsoft field, combining a weather-resistant polymer stock with a crisp, metal bolt-action system.

Durable Faux Wood and Metal Build

The High-Impact Faux Wood stock features a textured grain that mimics the appearance of walnut while being immune to the warping or cracking that can affect real wood in damp environments. All critical load-bearing components—including the outer barrel, receiver, and bolt assembly—are made of metal, giving the rifle a substantial, high-quality feel during operation.

Authentic Operation and Sighting

The M1903A3 variant is distinguished by its receiver-mounted peep sight, which S&T has replicated with full functionality. This allows for a longer sight radius compared to earlier models, improving accuracy at a distance. The bolt pull is smooth and mechanical, staying true to the manual of arms used by American GIs. To keep the look authentic, the magazine is hidden internally, preserving the clean lines of the original internal box magazine design.

Field-Ready Performance

Internally, the S&T M1903A3 is designed for reliability. Because it is spring-powered, it is not affected by the temperature fluctuations that can cause gas rifles to fail. It delivers a consistent muzzle velocity (typically 380–420 FPS) that is perfect for mid-to-long-range engagements. The hop-up is fully adjustable, allowing shooters to dial in the trajectory for various BB weights.

Tactical Role and Milsim Value

The S&T M1903A3 is a must-have for anyone building a WWII or Korean War U.S. Army or Marine Corps loadout. It is lighter than its real-wood counterparts, making it easier to carry during long skirmishes while still providing the legendary silhouette of the "Ought-Three." Whether you are a historical collector or a competitive player, this rifle offers a rugged and accurate tribute to a cornerstone of American military history.

Two tone
We can two tone any weapon we sell at Bespoke Airsoft. The purpose for two toning is if you do not hold a valid defense under the Violent Crimes Reduction Act (VCRA, 2006) which is to prevent the misuse of Replica Weapons, which applies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The gun will be sprayed 51% in a bright/primary color (we do only blue, green and red currently). The process of two toning currently runs at 2 working days depending on Drying Time, which is effected by Ambient Temperature and Weather. and currently no express delivery is available for this even if you select it at checkout.

FAQs

1.     What is a BB gun used for?  BB guns are mostly used for practice shooting and training. The stronger ones (i.e. Air Rifles) can also control pests or hunt small animals.

2.     Do you need a Licence in the UK for a BB gun? No, you don't need a licence for a BB gun in the UK, but there are rules. The BB Gun needs to be in two colours; one has to be a primary. All our guns are on the website as per default.

3.     Is a BB gun a good weapon?   BB guns, despite sometimes being seen as toys, can be dangerous. They fire pellets at high speeds and can cause serious harm, or even be deadly in some situations.

4.     Can you shoot BB guns in public in the UK without a Firearm license? BB guns in the UK navigate a legal grey area. While certain models, notably low-power 'soft air' types, typically evade classification as section 1 firearms, more potent versions may require a valid firearms certificate to avoid legal repercussions.

5.     Can you shoot a BB gun in your garden? You can use a BB gun in your garden under UK law, but you have to ensure the pellets don't go into your neighbour's yard, plot or land. If they do and you don't have permission, it's against the law.

6.     Which UK law am I breaking if the pellets go into my neighbour's law without permission?  If your BB gun pellets go into your neighbour's yard without permission, you're breaking UK laws. Specifically, the 1968 Firearms Act and possibly the 2003 Anti-Social Behaviour Act, because you may be causing your neighbours trouble or worry.
